IPod Touch earphone jack not working right?

I got my iPod last summer (in either june or july) and it was workign fine until last week the earphones were coming out distorted so i changed my earphones thinking it was just those and with 2 new pairs it still did it. It works fine if I like put pressure on the plug in part. I only dropped it once while on the treadmill like 2 weeks after I got it and it has never been around water so I sure nothing got in it. Does anybody know what I could do before I try bringing it back to apple
