Can you still be released on your own recognizance if its a felony?

My husband was arrested last week and i believe what he is being charged with is a felony, but this will be his first offense. Also someone called me from the jail today and was asking me questions like how long has he lived in this state? how long have we lived in our home? does he have a job, and if he is released will he be able to stay in our home. Then she told me he has another court date in the morning, but his preliminary trial is not until next month. So im wondering with her calling does that mean they are planning on releasing him, maybe they are trying to make sure he isnt a flight risk? Im not sure but im stressed out and im worried. So please if you ave any advice or have heard of anything like that before, please let me know. Thank you.
