Skype sounds are distorted and jittery?

This is not just for the webcam sounds, its ALL of skype sounds, like the intro sign in sound, the ringtones etc. My skype was working fine but all of a sudden its sound is all crazy, and its hard to understand the people when they're all distorted and and skipping sound really quickly. It's been doing this for a while now. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but didn't work.
